April 2nd: IM DONE!!!!!! I'm actually really proud of this piece, and although I could have done a lot better on the buildings and the atmospheric perspective, I'm pretty satisfied with how it turned out :). update: I’m still not done but i’m so so close. I AM NOT DONE!!! I will have my finished piece and will post it by the end of Monday, this piece just took wayyyy longer than expected because I spent a ridiculous amount of time on the lake (3 whole days). So far, I've struggled a lot with the trees because I can't seem to get a nicer application of the lighter greens on the dark green using a palette knife which is why the shrubbery looks kind of gross. I'm quite pleased with how the lake turned out because it took SO long to perfect and to get all the colors. I will take a better picture later to show the true color of the lake which has much more green in it than it looks like in the picture, I'm struggling a lot with the houses because they are particularly hard to create using a palette knife, but I think that I have been able to do a decent job so far. I'm really excited to finish this piece today, and am a little worried about the atmospheric space in the top area of the canvas which I'm avoiding until I absolutely have to. Please tell me how you think I should make the trees because I really struggled with those, and I welcome any criticism because I still think this piece needs a LOT of work considering that I kind of just threw myself into the process of painting it without a lot of time to actually plan it (I changed my reference picture four days ago).

First off, I love what you have so far! Especially the lake, I think you did a great job getting the luminosity of it like I feel like I'm basically there. Craftsmanship-wise, I think the details are fantastic. The greenery looks good, especially the colors you mixed look natural. I think the composition is nice, I like that the boat is off-center. Maybe make the white house (the second from the left) go a little further back? The perspective looks a little off but I don't have the reference photo so maybe ignore that. Is there any specific content? Is it part of a series? Overall, I think it is really impressive and well-done so far!

GIRL. I am amazed by the progress you have made! This painting is gorgeous. Absolutely stunning. The colors and details are wonderfully portrayed. I also think the composition is very strong. I would advise you to not get too loose with your strokes when it comes to the buildings because I know how tedious architecture can become, but maintaining a significant level of realism will have tremendous benefits in the end. For the future: would you consider doing more landscapes / seascapes, but in arbitrary colors? Like, edited to have an entire pink or blue hue? Just an idea to play with. Overall, though, I am so proud of your hard work. I hope you have enjoyed/will enjoy the process.

As you know, I absolutely love this piece. It is so so impressive! I think that the colors are stunning and am particularly drawn to all the greenery. I don't think I necessarily have any critiques but was just wondering what your plan was for the sky since I noticed in the reference photo that it was all greenery! Great job Shreya, I can't wait to see the finished product!

Your piece is awesome so far. The houses are phenomenal and so are the details of the trees, especially on the right side. I also really love the texture of the water, all the work and effort that you put into it definitely showed. The only really constructive criticism that I have for you is to finish. This is really a great piece so far and I am excited to see it finished.

I LOVE the trees, I think they're beautiful and really well done especially since you used the palette knife. The different types of greens coming together work so well and I'm super proud of your color mixing. I think one think that could be fixed is the roof on one of the houses on the bottom right. I just think the perspective is slightly off and could be fixed easily. Overall I think it looks really good and I'm excited to see it when it's done! Just make sure your sky isn't too similar looking to the lake to keep it interesting. Super proud of your grind Shreya (: The craft is 10/10 and I love the composition of the piece.
