On Friday night, I went to the fall art walk with our class and visited quite a few exhibitions including the ada exhibit, the ICU, the 1708 exhibit, and the Blue Iris exhibit. All were extremely interesting and unique, but my favorite was the ada exhibit because it explored painting and an abstract view on it. Aside from the main artist, Sarah Trigg's work was displayed in the back, and it also had an artist statement beside it. Her art represents the ecosystem and she uses the paint to build up layers to show the layers of sediment. I think that it is really interesting that she takes breaks while working on her paintings in order to build up the layers of acrylic. This relates to my works, because I am also trying to implement the use of layers to reveal my message, and here she has used to to represent her entire message. Although I don't work with acrylic as often, she has used acrylic's properties to her advantage, showing thick, chunky sections, and other areas where the paint is shown to be runny and thin. The texture of her painting also contributed to what she was trying to represent. I love the ADA gallery because I think it was really cute and I loved the entrance area with the ada sign (above). The main artist's work didn't catch my eye as much as Sarah Trigg's but it was still displayed in a very interesting way.
